Spring has sprung in London and time has come to give yourself a balanced fashion update. One of my favourite trends for SS14 is definitely sportswear, and after the launch of Adidas Originals for Top Shop last week, I am quite keen to get one or two sporty pieces to freshen up my wardrobe slightly.

Sportswear will always return to the catwalk on a regular basis; and for this season it was featured even by designers known for usually producing more elegant and glamorous wear, like Gucci and Tom Ford.  Key pieces are voluminous t-shirts, tank tops, sweatshirts, shorts and skirts in luxurious fabrics like mesh, silk and leather. Colour-wise, there are two palettes: one classic in different whites, greys and blacks; and the other one bright and bold in hues of pink, orange, green and yellow. Logos and playful prints are used for a retro, and sometimes mischievous, feeling.

The sporty look doesn’t need to be overly accessorised. Match with your best killer heels, as a contrast to the relaxed garments; or jump on the current sneaker trend, to go all in for a truly fit look. If you feel in need of some jewellery; a bold bracelet or watch works well with the athletic style.

A sporty outfit calls for fresh, natural makeup; with flawless, healthy looking skin and just slightly defined eyes. Finish off with a bold lipstick in orange, this seasons it-colour for your pout.
